Our 10th Year Celebration Challenge
Sometimes, a decade of growth sounds like a good thing—but not always. Each year, our Weekend Food Bag Program relies on volunteers to pack more food bags and deliver them to more schools and preschools, ensuring that children experiencing food insecurity over the weekend have enough to eat.
These are children who receive free or reduced-price meals at school. Do they look forward to the weekend with the same excitement as other children? Do they head home on Friday knowing they’ll return to school on Monday nourished, ready to learn, and able to succeed in the classroom?
Our 10th Year Celebration Challenge is built around a hopeful, resounding YES! Every child deserves that peace of mind, and together, we can help make it happen.
We can’t do this without you and a community that stands with us every step of the way!
Last year, Wild Bird Charity created Hunger Heroes, our monthly giving club, to help ensure a reliable stream of funding for our growing weekly grocery bill.
Many people are surprised to learn that it costs approximately $4,627 every week just to purchase the food. Some assume the food is donated, but it isn’t. Consistent monthly support helps us meet this ongoing need and continue serving more children.
Our 10th Year Celebration Challenge Goals
To keep up with the growing need, we’re setting three ambitious but essential goals:
Renew donor support: Encourage previous donors to renew their generosity with a monthly gift of $10 to Hunger Heroes.
Increase monthly gifts: Encourage 50% of current Hunger Heroes members to increase their monthly contributions by $10 or more.
Double our monthly donors: Grow our Hunger Heroes community to 204 monthly donors by the end of the school year.
Thank you for your past support of our program. We invite you to renew your generosity with a monthly gift of $10 to our Hunger Heroes Club. Your recurring gift provides dependable funding to help us keep pace with the growing number of Weekend Food Bags we distribute and the rising cost of groceries.
Will you partner with Wild Bird Charity as we launch our 10th Year Celebration Challenge? Our goals are ambitious, but they’re necessary to meet the growing need in our community.
For children across Whatcom County who face food insecurity, the reality is simple: Hunger doesn’t take the weekend off. With your help, we can make sure they don’t have to face it alone.
