Volunteer

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. Simply put, we would not exist if not for the scores of engaged people who have amazing hearts and passion to help children in need. It has become one of the favorite things I have ever been a part of in my life, not just because of the importance of the mission, but the wonderful community of volunteers who have determined to chase after it with me!”

Here are some of the other volunteer opportunities we have throughout the year:

  • Handwritten thank-you cards - We could use volunteers with good handwriting to help with some thank-you cards to donors. We will have everything set up for you at our normal Wednesday and Thursday volunteer times for the next few weeks.

  • Drivers - We have 25-30 drivers and backup drivers who take a bin or two to a school each week. This saves us lots of time and money, and is really rewarding for our drivers.

  • Event help - We can always use hands-on help during events.

    • We have a Fundraising and Event Team that Mark leads, which meets every other Friday on Zoom for approximately 30-45 minutes. This is a fun team of 5-7 volunteers who enjoy making things happen! No experience necessary, we can train you.

  • Organize a granola bar drive (or any other food item we need) - You can do this personally or recruit a school, church, organization, etc. to do it. We always need more of these!

  • Group Event - Several businesses have purchased and put together food bags or special items as a staff activity at their business/church/school, or have come together on a Wednesday or Thursday to assemble bags. Please email Kathy Young if you are interested in doing something similar or have another creative idea for a group project.

  • Endowment - We are planning on an endowment in the spring of 2027 and are researching other long-term solutions to provide a sustainable funding stream for this work.

  • If you have a desire to do something that's not listed, let's discuss how we could make that happen together! We are open to ideas! This charity really is primarily volunteer-led and volunteer-run. We only have one staff member so we lean hard on our volunteers, who really own this and make it all happen.
